How to use

  1. Choose a tab: Converter, World Clock, UTC, DST or Military.
  2. In the Converter, pick a source city, enter a date and time (or press Now), and pick a target city. The result appears straight away.
  3. Use the other tabs to see the live clocks, current daylight saving status, or to switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time.

This tool has five tabs built around the time zone database that comes with your browser.

The Converter tab lets you pick a source city and a target city from a list of 12: UTC, New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Berlin, Istanbul, Dubai, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Sydney. Enter any date and time as it reads on the clock in the source city, and the tool shows the same moment in the target city and in UTC, each with its UTC offset. Daylight saving time is applied for the date you enter, so a time in July and the same time in January can give different results. If you enter a time that is skipped when clocks go forward, it is read using the offset after the change.

The World Clock tab shows the current time and date in all 12 cities, updating every second. The UTC tab shows a large live clock in Coordinated Universal Time.

The DST tab lists every city except UTC and marks whether daylight saving time is in effect there right now. It decides this by asking the browser for each zone's current time zone name and checking whether it is a daylight or summer name. The result therefore reflects today's date only, and it does not show when the next clock change happens.

The Military tab converts between 24-hour and 12-hour clock notation. Enter 14:30 to get 2:30 PM, or enter a time such as 2:30 PM to get 14:30. If the format is not recognised, it shows an invalid format message.

The times come from your device's clock and your browser's time zone data, so they are only as accurate as your device's clock. Nothing is sent to a server.

FAQ

Can I convert a specific time, like 3 PM?

Yes. In the Converter tab, enter the date and time in the source city and the tool shows that moment in the target city and in UTC. Press Now to start from the current time.

Which cities are available?

UTC, New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Berlin, Istanbul, Dubai, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Sydney.

How does the DST tab know if daylight saving applies?

It checks whether the browser reports a daylight or summer time zone name for each city today. It shows today's status only.

What formats does the Military tab accept?

24-hour times like 14:30, and 12-hour times with AM or PM like 2:30 PM.

How do I convert a time to UTC?

Choose the city or zone the time belongs to as the source, enter the date and time, and read the UTC line in the result. The UTC offset for that date is shown next to each city.
