The converter keeps three representations of the same color in sync. HEX uses six hexadecimal digits with a leading #. RGB uses three numbers from 0 to 255 for red, green and blue. CMYK uses four percentages from 0 to 100 for cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Change any field and the others are recalculated immediately. A large swatch shows the resulting color.
The HEX field updates the other formats once it holds a complete 6-digit value. RGB and CMYK values you type are limited to their valid ranges. The CMYK numbers come from the standard mathematical formula that relates CMYK to RGB. They are not based on a printer or paper profile, so they are good for quick conversions but may not match what a specific press will print. For color-critical print work, convert in software that uses ICC profiles.
