Case Conversion

How to use

  1. Paste or type your text into the text box.
  2. Click the case style you want: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case or kebab-case.
  3. Review the converted text in the box and copy it where you need it.

The case converter rewrites the text in the box into one of eight styles. Each button replaces the current content, so you can keep clicking to try another style on the result.

UPPERCASE and lowercase change every letter. Title Case capitalises the first letter of each word and lowercases the rest. Sentence case lowercases everything and then capitalises the first letter of the text and the first letter after a full stop, exclamation mark or question mark.

The other four styles are meant for code and file names. camelCase and PascalCase pull out the letters and digits in your text, join them together and capitalise each word boundary; camelCase keeps the first word lowercase and PascalCase capitalises it. snake_case turns spaces and hyphens into underscores, and kebab-case turns spaces and underscores into hyphens. Both lowercase the text.

These four code styles keep only the letters a to z and digits 0 to 9. Accented letters, other alphabets and punctuation are dropped, so they work best on plain English phrases. For example, a phrase such as hello world becomes helloWorld, HelloWorld, hello_world or hello-world.

If you convert by mistake, note that the original text is replaced in the box. Keep a copy of the original if you may want it back, or paste it again.

The conversion happens in your browser. The text is not uploaded.

FAQ

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

Both join words without separators and capitalise each word. camelCase starts with a lowercase letter and PascalCase starts with an uppercase letter.

Why did some characters disappear in snake_case or kebab-case?

Those styles keep only lowercase letters a to z, digits and the separator. Accented letters, other alphabets and punctuation are removed.

How does Sentence case decide where sentences start?

It capitalises the first letter of the text and the first letter after a full stop, exclamation mark or question mark. Everything else is lowercased.

Can I undo a conversion?

There is no undo button. The converted text replaces the original, so keep a copy if you need it.
