How to use

  1. Paste the text, encoded string or JSON into the text box.
  2. Open the Encode tab and click Encode, Decode, Format or Minify in the section you need.
  3. Read the result in the box. If the input is invalid, an error message appears and your text is left unchanged.

The Encode tab groups three common conversions. Each button replaces the content of the text box with the result.

Base64 encodes your text as a Base64 string, or decodes a Base64 string back to text. Text is handled as UTF-8, so accented characters and symbols are converted properly rather than failing.

URL encoding turns text into a form that is safe to place inside a URL component, with reserved characters replaced by percent sequences, and decoding reverses it. The tool uses the standard browser functions for encoding and decoding a URI component, so it is meant for pieces such as query values rather than a whole address that you want to keep readable.

JSON tools parse the text and then write it back out. Format re-indents it with two spaces per level so it is easy to read, and Minify removes the extra whitespace to make it compact. If the text is not valid JSON, parsing fails and the tool reports the error instead of changing anything.

The same is true of the Base64 and URL decoders. A string that is not valid Base64, or a percent sequence that cannot be decoded, shows an error message below the buttons and leaves your text as it was.

Base64 and URL encoding are not encryption. They only change how text is written and can be reversed by anyone. All conversions run in your browser, and the text is not sent to a server.

FAQ

Does Base64 support non-English characters?

Yes. Text is converted as UTF-8 before encoding and after decoding, so accented letters and symbols round-trip.

What happens if the input is invalid?

An error message appears under the relevant buttons and the text in the box is not changed.

How much does JSON Format indent?

Two spaces per level. Minify removes the whitespace entirely.

Is Base64 a way to hide secrets?

No. It is a reversible encoding, not encryption, and anyone can decode it.
